!520 and 1536 are working the east end of the hump classification tracks, assembling a train for departures elsewhere. The tracks on the ridge at far right, with the wooden stairway, are the CN connecting tracks from their facility (Sarcee Yard) to CP's Alyth Yard.

On a trip to Manitoba for some railfanning, we found ourselves following the Prairie Rail Solutions SD40 VLSX 5232 (Ex CN SD40), which made an early morning trip to Grosse Isle to pull a covered hopper from their storage track.

After a day of snowshoeing on Georgian Bay and grabbing beers to go at Trestle Brewing Co. (a must-visit, they've got a fantastic patio at the foot of the trestle), B and I decided to visit the hilltop museum and lookout tower before parting ways. We shot The Canadian from a trackside rock cut on the property; knowing there was a second northbound following, I decided to climb halfway up the tower to watch the freight roll by. B reluctantly followed and I explained the "golden goose" of Parry Sound shots - a genuine southbound crossing the trestle ACOT due to a detour or, as is far more common, faking the shot with an out-facing rear DPU—also a fairly lucky circumstance. <br>As luck would have it, I heard another engine rumbling up the line (check), it was at the end of the train (check!), it was a relatively fresh rebuild (Check!) and was facing out (CHECK!). I quickly climbed to the tower's summit and fired off a shot as it continued its northwestern journey. It's pretty amazing how quickly the distant landforms across the water fade into near-nothingness with a small amount of snow in the air.

After having a meet in Tilbury with CP 140, the US Canadian Pacific Holiday Train dashes by a field on its' way to Windsor. This was taken at Gracey Side Road roughly halfway between Tilbury and Haycroft.

CN 382 makes its way through Brantford with an amazing consist. The consist in order is CN 2190, BCOL 4644, GTW 4927 and GTW 4915. Not one of the units in this consist started their lives under CN ownership. It was a nice lunch hour surprise!

A driving by the Oshawa GO station on the M-C 401, an opportunity presented itself so I couldn't resist shooting this thing. I don't mind the new cab car design, looks nice enough. Not a fan of the new image. 1617hrs.

As happens every fall, the Amtrak <i>Adirondack</i> has the great dome car <i>Ocean View</i> for a month, three times a week northbound and three times a week southbound. Here the train deadheads towards Montreal's Central Station about eighty minutes before its departure, passing the Peel Basin, where a number of condos and hotels are reflected in the fairly still waters.

An old image from when I spent a few chancy days up in the abandoned Canada Crushed Stone conveyor overhang at Dundas, mile 4. This shows GO 504 leading a scheduled passenger, perhaps should have had a Tempo unit on it, I forget. In the background is the Sydenham Rd bridge.
This GP 40TC loco was sold off to Amtrak in 1988 and became their #196.

It's interesting how this location has and hasn't changed in the past 40 or so years. While the GO station and Cargo-flow at West Harbour/CN Stuart are recent developments, the track layout in Hamilton Yard is largely the same as it was in 1974 with the majority of trains using the "hot track" (Oakville sub North Track). In this scene, we see Fort Erie-bound train 463 (with GP9 4594 and SD40 5046) passing the "Middle Yard" engine (S4 8172). Note the piggyback ramps and Dofasco container cars, the lead to the James Street North station, as well as the Carload Centre/Express Building and Diesel shop in the background. Also note the jointed rail and how little vegetation there is!

RLHH 595 with RLHH 3403, 3049 & 3404 start their day by switching out 597's train that arrived earlier in the morning from CN in Brantford. The bright late-fall sun really shows the difference in orange paint applied to 3403 (at NRE in Paducah, KY) and 3049 (at LDS in Sarnia).
