CSX train R320 with CSX GP38 2012 and CSX SD40-2 8060 with C&O caboose #904121 are paused by the iconic former CASO station in St. Thomas during a humid August 1993 day. The train is seen meeting CSX R321 with CSX C40-8W’s 7737 and 7694 with C&O caboose 904125, much to the delight of those attending the weekend St. Thomas railway day's festivities.

In 1993, CP had officially changed its corporate logo to “CP Rail System” utilizing parts of the American and Canadian flags. Any new locomotive rebuilds and repaints started appearing with the new symbol as the year progressed. The railway also applied logos on other rail equipment including their fleet of maintenance vehicles. <br> Here an eastbound CP track maintenance truck crosses Trussler Road, just west of Ayr, Ontario by the east siding switch at Wolverton. The new logos are seen adorning the doors of the vehicle.

Just as the late September sun has dipped below the horizon, the CN 15:30 Kitchener Job slowly passes the former Grand Trunk station as it approaches Regina Street in downtown Waterloo, Ontario. The job is powered by GP9RM 4108 and is taking one car to Elmira along with caboose 79883.

CN train 421 is viewed at the Kitchener yard with 9527, 9622 and 4128 along with caboose 79436. The train had arrived light power in Kitchener from Guelph and proceeded to lift the caboose at the Kitchener yard as well as the loaded cars with recently built Budd automobile frames seen in the background. Once all their work was completed, 421 would eventually depart towards London with 79436 in its rightful spot on the tail-end.

CN L568 is just west of Baden, Ontario on the Guelph Subdivision approaching Nafziger Road with a short train. The consist includes; 4125, 4726, GTW 5849 and 7515.

As my dad and I were railfanning London during a September afternoon, to our surprise a CP westbound had arrived in the Quebec Street yard with quite a neat consist. It included; CP SD40’s 5539, 5562 and SOO Line SD40-2 6618, SOO Line SD40 744 and SOO Line SD40-2 776. Thankfully the units uncoupled from their train and heading into the yard to make a lift allowing for an unobstructed view of the consist. The five SD’s are viewed here making the move at the west-end of the yard much to our delight as well as a couple other railfans who had arrived to photograph the train.

In summer 1993, my first trip to CP Guelph Jct. ironically wasn’t to photograph a CP train, but rather a promotional passenger train set. So the story goes, in July of that year CP sponsored the tour of the X2000, which was a Swedish State Railways train set built by Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) on their lines in Quebec and Ontario. The week-long promotional tour of the two provinces then followed several months of testing and display of the train in the United States by Amtrak. The Toronto portion of the tour was followed by two X2000 excursions to Guelph Junction and return via the Galt Subdivision. I forget exactly how we found out about it, which was likely through word of mouth at the time, but my dad, myself and a friend arrived at Guelph Jct. ahead of the train’s arrival and immediately realized we weren’t the only ones there. Many other railfan’s, the media and everyone else in between were there to take in the event. <br> Here the X2000 train is viewed with the CP local to Guelph in the background powered by RS18u 1866 with caboose 434679 on the tail-end.
