VIA Rail FP9A 6520 and a B unit sister bring eastbound number 72 into Burlington West station. Built as <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=34912>CN 6520</a> in March of 1957, the unit would be transferred to VIA 6520 in March 1978, renumbered to <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=45636>VIA 6306</a> in June 1984 and finally retired from VIA service in 1994. It would serve for three years with Les Trains Touristiques du Saint-Laurent (TTSL 6303) until May 1997, when it would move to Ontario as <a href=http://www.trainweb.org/oldtimetrains/tourist/WSJR_6520.jpg>Waterloo-St. Jacob's Railway 6520.</a> After languishing in Toronto until 2012, it would finally make it's way west to the West Coast Railway Association's site in Squamish, British Columbia, where it was recently restored to <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=42767>CN's 1961 scheme.</a>

TH&B NW2u 51, built by EMD in 1947, rests at Aberdeen Yard with a cut of gondolas. Today 51 is part of the Ontario Southland Railway's fleet and rests at their <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=46220>Salford shop.</a>

TH&B steam generator 500 is seen at Chatham Street alongside 52. Originally built by ALCO in 1929 as the tender of <a href=http://www.thbrailway.ca/thbinphotos/photo_pages/steam04.htm>TH&B 4-6-4 number 502,</a> it would be rebuilt into a steam generator unit in 1955 after the locomotive's retirement, serving in this capacity until being sold in 1986 to the Green Mountain Railroad in Vermont, and in 2002, was transferred to Steamtown, where it is preserved as <a href=http://www.trainweb.org/oldtimetrains/photos/thb/NYC_X5313_(exTH&B%20500).jpg>New York Central X5313.</a>

VIA FP9A 6313 adds a nice pop of colour to the scene on this gloomy day at Bayview, where a westbound CN freight led by a pair of M420s has paused for the passage of VIA 72. M420 2530 leads the freight with crew members on the ground to inspect the passenger equipment. <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=45136>Originally CN (1)</a> and later <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=12235>VIA 6526, (2)</a> VIA 6313 lives on today, having been sold to the <a href=http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=67825>Ohio Central Railway</a> in 2002, and later to Canadian Pacific in 2006 as one of their <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=10738>heritage painted F-units, number 4107.</a>
