About Dave Brook
I started chasing trains after listening to my grandfathers stories of riding steam through the Rockies, and seeing the ore train in Bracebridge. From that I worked for CN/VIA/GO Transit for 6 years before becoming an air traffic controller. I discovered I liked trains more from the outside than in.

![In the day, outside of the Lasers, 392-393 were as hot as trains got between Montreal and Sarnia. This, it was not a shock, but a really pleasant surprise to have this encounter with 9900; a new SD60....technically SD60F stretching its legs before CN eventually placed a confirming order that became the 5500's](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Image10-3-copy-21280-200x150.jpg)

![The scanner was breaking up a little, so I couldn't really make out the engine number. I went out hoping it might be the rail train returning east. It had arrived at Wolverton(Ayr) 90 minutes earlier. Alas, it turned out to be this with 7 racks so a chance to pan at 1/25th. Everything is an opportunity.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/IMG_0799-Edit-200x150.jpg)

![Foreign power leading is still a novelty on the Galt Sub, but this one is a little different. Dispatched from Toronto yesterday on 135, 3 foreign units have run to Windsor and back without a CP unit being added. Is this just a fluke because CP has no power of its own lying around, or is CP going to start looking like three US?](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/IMG_0628-Edit1280-200x150.jpg)
