My name is Michael Berry and I grew up in Montreal West, a town with numerous rail lines passing through. I have always been interested in trains but have been photographing them on a regular basis since 2005. I currently use a Nikon D5300 with a NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR lens. <b>Ex-ATSF, ex-BN & BNSF.</b>A great lashup of CN 2098, BNSF 9661 and BNSF 5092 leads loaded oil train CN 710 through Montreal before stopping for a crew change at Turcot West. All three engines were owned by BNSF at one point, CN 2098 was originally ATSF 865, then BNSF 865. BNSF 9661 began life as BN 9661 and is still in its original paint scheme, though BNSF stencilling has been added. The third engine was built for BNSF in 2004. In June 1994, the first JT42HCW for Irish Rail was sent to Dublin by air after its construction at London's GMD plant. This was to allow clearance tests and training before the main order was delivered. The engine was named Abhainn na Sionnainne (River Shannon in english) The airplane is an Antonov An-124. Photo was taken by Glen Fisher, my father-in-law.

This photo was taken by my father-in-law (Glen Fisher) who was involved in attempting to sell/lease N de M electric locomotives to Montreal's AMT (commuter train agency) for use on the electrified Deux-Montagnes line. The AMT decide not to use them and all were scrapped in 2007. Here one is seen in the AMT's St-Eustache Yard at the end of the Deux-Montagnes line.

Photo taken by Glen Fisher, my father-in-law. He is is a railway consultant and was involved in the BC Rail Tumbler Ridge electrification during the early 1980s. This shot shows testing of the GF6C locomotives before regular service on the line began. All have since been retired and the line currently uses diesel engines. Behind BCOL 6001 is EMD test car ET840 and behind that are three SD40-2s (1 CN & 2 BC Rail). For another view of this consist click here. A CP rail train is laying down ribbons of continuous welded rail on CP's Westmount Sub, which normally only sees AMT passenger trains. A pair of ex-Conrail SD60I's (NS 6721 & NS 6731) head west through Montreal West with a short train on a beautifully sunny but frigid winter morning. <b>At the entrance to Exporail.</b> After photographing the CP Holiday train nearby, I figured I would try a night shot of this unique steam engine as it has a small amount of Christmas lights. This steam engine was built by Baldwin in 1900 as a 2-4-0T called E.E. Bigge for Nova Scotia Steel & Coal and was not retired until 1962. <b>First night of the 2013 U.S. CP Holiday Train.</b> Makings its second stop of the night, CP's U.S. Holiday train makes a stop at Delson, Quebec. Of note is that Delson is named for the Delaware & Hudson - the tracks of D&H subsidiary Napierville Junction ended at Delson (trains would continue on CP's Adirondack Sub). BCOL 4623, BNSF 4011 & BNSF 9190 are the power on a loaded oil train (CN 710) that is heading east through Dorval at a very fast pace. Up until recently BNSF power was practically unheard of in Quebec, but is getting more common with the increase in oil trains.
