I love a CP train with no CP power, UP 5520 and NS 6785 lead a westbound grain drag down grade toward the siding at Swansea.

This was the only train on the Oakville Sub that I ever put any effort into shooting. On this June 2003 day ONR's "Northlander" deadheads to Mimico to be turned for its departure later that evening. CN's station name sign Fort York can be seen left of the locomotive, while I'm standing at GO's Exhibition station. In the background a GO Train look's to be headed west towards CP's Galt sub.

CNW 8646 and UP 9621 lead NS 328 through CN's Hamilton West on a sunny June 30th 2005. A big thanks goes out to RP.ca contributor Marcus Stevens for taking a teenage yours truly trackside that day. 327/328 photos always seem to generate some good memories when posted here. I can say for sure that this was the juiciest 328 lash up I ever got on film.

I'm not sure how many outhouses made it in to the zebra paint scheme, but this one survive's on the west end of the former BCR Dawson Creek Sub on the end of the former NAR. I was to go in for a closer look……..

SD38-2 CEFX 6057 waits in CN's Jasper Yard to be taken East to Hinton. Cando will soon be taking over the switching operations at the mill in Hinton from CN. Apparently this is one of two such units that will be assigned there.

This is one of those situations that still has me scratching my head. On a sunny March 2003 morning I was hanging out at Hamilton West when I heard the RTC telling a 334 they were going to be backing up the Dundas sub to clear for a Via and CP to meet on the Oakville. This sounded crazy as 334 was usually a monster train. But as I looked over from Hamilton West it turned out to be just light power, NS light power. So I hoofed-er over to Bayview and grabbed this shot.

I suppose when there's no blue sky to be had, a blue building must suffice. A rough looking WC 2004 is seen in an equally rough part of town on a dreary Saturday afternoon.

A vintage restricted clearance sign is seen still earning it keep in Prince George BC. Making these signs was a project often given to the new guy at the shop, the post's were usually made from old boiler tubes with the end's pinched. The imperfections in the diamond shaped cuts also show the human touch quite well.

Power for train 575 to Fort St John creates a nice reflection in a nearby puddle. In the background train 472 to Prince George goes about building it's train. Despite both being "Gevo's", there are many spotting differences between the 2248 and the 2859.

A nice looking set of yard power goes about switching the massive Canfor mill in the northeast corner of PG. The consist was CN7019, WC2001,CN1440.

This ex Milwaukee Road unit has been making a living as a plant switcher for over 20 years now in Fraser Flats BC (10km north of Prince George). It's seen here briefly exiting the plant to grab cars from the CN (ex BC Rail) interchange. I made an impulse decision to drive out to the plant to see if I could spot their switcher's (they supposedly have two on site), within seconds of my pulling up to the crossing this thing showed up! sometimes you just get lucky! The unit was once MILW 650.

On a cold and sunny March day, is there anything better to do than chase a seldom photographed shortline in the middle of no where ? Of course not! Thunder Rail's only unit, an MLW M420, is seen here slowly nearing Crooked River SK.
