This bridge is still part of CN's (former NAR) Grande Prairie Subdivision but with rails removed and crossing's paved over on both sides of it, the chances of ever seeing another train on it are pretty slim.

Here is a view looking back at Fort McMurray-Edmonton train 556 composed of sulphur tank's, scrap gon's and coke cars. It's 10:00 and we're nearing the station name sign Devenish at mile 183 of the Lac La Biche Subdivision. The day began at 01:00 building the train in Fort McMurray yard and with just three hours left to cover 70 miles to Lac La Biche, I'm thinking this day ended in a taxi. SD40-2W's 5326, 5317, 5352 were the power.

Did you know ex-SP tunnel motor's were leading trains in southern Ontario long before GEXR 9392 showed up ? Well on at least one occasion, CN 271 is seen being lead by SD40T-2 leaser GECX 8664. I'd just shot it trailing on 334 the day before and was shocked to get a phone call the next morning saying it was leading 271 !

A pair of modern day "critters" soak in the last light of the day. This P&H facility is located along CN's Wainwright Subdivision with CP's Wilkie Sub visible across the highway in the background. With the endless parade of GE's on both railways sometimes monotonous, it's nice to find little windows into the past like these two. #13 began life as CN 5063 while #8 started out as SP 8894

"Use Pool Co-Op Flour" read's pool elevator 587 at Whitepool. This elevator was at one point a long, long time ago served by a GTP (later CN) rail line that paralleled CP through the area. In the background CP 3006 and 3013 roll past at a leisurely 10MPH.

PWTX 1326 with it's Topeka cab and prevalent horn arrangement sit's plugged in at an elevator between Dodsland and Plenty Saskatchewan. The track to the left is CP's Kerrobert Sub.

ExCP 8203 seems to have found a retirement job in Alberta. It is one of at least three units stationed at the large crude oil rail terminal just east of Hardisty Alberta.

CP 9824 and UP 6708 head west through Fenwick BC. When I saw the ex CNW unit I was immediately ready to give chase, CP however had other plans and tied the train down at Fort Steele till after dark.

Looking back at this scene from 2009, I can't help but wonder if the sun has set for good on CN's SD60F fleet? I've heard DMVW has picked up a few, but I'm not sure of the specifics.

This fine looking Northern Alberta Railway caboose was built in 1926. It is now on display in Rycroft Alberta. The track in the background is CN's Rycroft Spur (formerly the NAR Smoky Sub)
