The Levack Turn is in the process of leaving CP's Cartier Sub and heading down the Levack Spur towards Coleman Mine. There it will exchange its empty string of gondolas for cars loaded with nickel ore. Then the train will proceed back to the concentrator at Clarabelle Mill in Sudbury.

Three SD40-2 locomotives lead their train through downtown Nipigon. I had been waiting all morning for an eastbound (there's a neat bridge shot just outside of town) that never materialized so this was, at the time, a consolation prize. Nowadays, a train with power like this is something that I'd be chasing.

After building their train for today's T07, CP engines 2264, 3078 and 2224 lead 27 cars out of the yard at Havelock to begin the journey to Toronto.

This was the best result I ever got from shooting the St Thomas & Eastern Railway. It seemed, to me, that the trains would head west in the morning and east in the afternoon making all my attempts backlit. Now on this fine summer day I had spent the morning and early afternoon following the OSR and later in the day decided to go over to Trillium's shops and take a photo of 1842, as it could often be found parked outside their office. But it wasn't there and, on a whim, I decided to drive to Delhi so I could see where the end of the line was. As I drove down Hwy 3 in Delhi, I looked down the track as I crossed over it and I saw the headlight of an engine east of me on the main. It's hard to explain to most people the kind of excitement I felt at this moment, but I'd hazard a guess that everyone on this site can understand why I quickly slammed on the brakes (subsequently needing to wave an apology to the driver behind me) in order to try and have a longer look. The next hour was spent waiting for the train to begin its journey back to Tillsonburg and then leapfrogging its slow trek home, photographing it at nearly every crossing between Delhi and Tillsonburg. And not only is it the best shot I could get of the ST&E, it was also the last, as I never made it out again before the railway shut down in 2013.

OSRX 182 and 1620 are seen here running around their train while working in Courtland at the Cargill facility. Today they brought in a handful of hoppers for the fertilizer plant and also a number of oil tank cars which will be stored east of here. In my opinion there isn't much better than railfanning the OSR; friendly people, interesting operations and great MLW/GMD power!

9607 leads an eastbound 100 series train over the diamond. To the right of the train is the foundation of the old water tower that hints at busier times here years ago.

An unknown crude oil train approaching the diamond at Franz is acknowledged by a friendly wave. It had been a few years since I'd visited Franz and it wasn't the same without the ACR Tour of the Line passenger train.

2200 and 1802 lead 34 cars eastbound out of Hearst towards Kapuskasing. The 60 mile journey will take just under three hours and makes for a very relaxing chase.
