About craigandru

Originally from Mississauga, I have lived in Barrie for the past five years. I've managed to photograph trains throughout a good portion of Ontario and, over the last few years, have been especially interested in shooting trains in Northern Ontario. As of now my equipment includes a Canon DSLR and a few different lenses.

OSRX 182 and 1620 are seen here running around their train while working in Courtland at the Cargill facility. Today they brought in a handful of hoppers for the fertilizer plant and also a number of oil tank cars which will be stored east of here. In my opinion there isn't much better than railfanning the OSR; friendly people, interesting operations and great MLW/GMD power!

9607 leads an eastbound 100 series train over the diamond. To the right of the train is the foundation of the old water tower that hints at busier times here years ago.

An unknown crude oil train approaching the diamond at Franz is acknowledged by a friendly wave. It had been a few years since I'd visited Franz and it wasn't the same without the ACR Tour of the Line passenger train.

ONT 1802 and 2200 are on their way back to Hearst with loads from Kapuskasing and Cochrane.

2200 and 1802 lead 34 cars eastbound out of Hearst towards Kapuskasing. The 60 mile journey will take just under three hours and makes for a very relaxing chase.

T07 slowly rumbles by the old CP station (now the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce) with 17 cars lifted in Havelock.

After delivering a load of steel plate for TIW Steel Plateworks, TRRY 108 pushes an empty flatcar back towards the NS&T Spur where they will reattach to the rest of her train. In the background is the Trenergy factory, a local industry that is fabricating and assembling shells for the new DOT-111 (CTC-111A) tank cars.

After waiting north of the diamond for CN 145 to pass, the biweekly OBRY freight train continues south through Brampton and on towards Streetsville where it will interchange traffic with CP.

I had heard from an OSR conductor that some track in the St. Thomas Sub's Beachville siding was made up of pre-1900 forged rail. This was the oldest I could fine. Anyone know of anything older in Canada that is still in regular use?
