Steve, a beautifully lit shot from a spot I know well. You can’t get that angle in March anymore without shadows of very large trees on the power… blissful was the era when the RofW was kept clear natures photo-bombers.
That RS-10 looks to be 8564 (ret. 10/80), btw.
It must be the sun angle…….that leader looks so plain and clean.:o) Great image.
My oops! Mike, you are correct that second unit is a RS-10 (MLW 1956)….a rather ‘clean burning’ 244 ALCO engine ! (good eye for that engine number !)
You could hear that 4560 chanting for minutes prior to cresting the Lovekin hill !
And thirty four years later that darn Bell cable remains problematic !
And the CP repeater tower – no where to be seen !
You can still hear them coming for some time there, sound similar to a 251, too… but now it’s a toaster lugging an A rating + 15% train. Great combo there, a real Mutt’n'Jeff, but that 4560 sure is a fine sight!
And hats off to the Bell guys for putting that wire there
