Yeah as much as they were old and loud and rocking side to side when I had them for power on my train, it wuld be fun to take them out for another spin.
I remember running to Fort Erie in a snowstorm and wondering if we’d stay on the rails if we hit another snowback with the engine fully banked too. But they were unique.
Yes they were unique. I had them on the Milliken turn 718 and 409 to Stratford. Loved the air starts on them too
Ah yes 409. Great job. I still remember the night bombing out there in the snow with 3 M420′s; couldn’t get the switch in Guelph for the setoff. Got to Stratford in time to head home before 660 out of London and the “genius” Chief Dispatcher decided the Guelph Sub needed a plow extra before the Budds. It never occurred to him that we’d cleaned it out on the way up. Such were the days….
Haha yes the good old days of train orders and first class trains. I remember throwing off fusees to slow down 660 because we could not clear in time
Dave, what switch was it you couldn’t get open in Guelph? I’m curious whether is remains, as some have been removed.
