Caption: With the current pandemic happening and anything considered 'normal' having been thrown out the window, it was nice to get out and for once score a similarity to hockey's famed "hat-trick". This night's CN train 438, led by 5688 and IC 2465 in CN livery, cruises through comfortably after having lifted some grain cars by Keil Drive. Before this photo I was also able to shoot CP 141, running through Chatham at it's 'new time'. But, my third tally is shown in the distance. Parked in an unusual spot, was Saturday's power for 514 in the old venerable form of GP9 7025. I was surprised that 438 did not lift this engine, although it was gone the next morning by what assume was a lift made by 439 overnight.

Very nice picture of a historic gem of a railway station. Todd, I agree with Albert that this 1879 former Great Western Railway station is often overlooked. How many 140 year old passenger stations in Canada are still in use today ? Thanks to the Grand Trunk, CNR and now VIA Rail, this grand old lady is still doing what it was originally built for, greeting arriving train passengers ! If only those walls could talk. Great lighting on the station front and for me, a nice touch is CN 5688 – IC 2465 about to rumble by the historic station as opposed to VIA. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks guys! You’re welcome. Having photographed here before, thankful to have one of the many historical buildings that is our station still standing. Too many of these architectural beauties have fallen by the wayside (in particular, soon to be the Ingersoll and now CSX Ridgetown stations). But, the grounds of the once prosperous days gone by around the station is what gets me very time. Hard to believe there was a westbound main, double tracked all the way to Windsor. And, further more, a former freight shed, switcher, and coincidentally the yards. Now spurs, here and there, and the overgrowth almost raises the question how can this be the main Windsor – Toronto – Quebec City corridor for VIA??? Wish more care was put back into maintaining the roadbeds and grounds so that it doesn’t look like a poor branchline operation.
