Caption: With livestock cars and a reefer at the head end, Canadian National S1g-class Mikado 3518 leads a northbound freight on the CN Brampton Sub through the Mount Dennis area of York Township, about to cross the Eglinton Avenue level crossing (near the old Kodak plant, which was out of frame to the left) in 1959. CP's MacTier Sub can be seen running parallel in the background. At this time, Mount Dennis was part of York Township, and had joined the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto only a few years prior.
At present, this single track line (renamed from the Brampton Sub to the Weston Sub in 1965) has become a multi-track corridor owned by Metrolinx, used by GO Transit, VIA and the Union-Pearson Express passenger trains, and the level crossing at Eglinton has long since become an underpass (mid-60's). Kodak closed in the mid 2000's and the factory was demolished, but a station along the Eglinton Crosstown LRT is planned for this location to connect to passenger rail traffic.
