With all the focus on time running out for OSR's operations over CN's Cayuga subdivision it seemed like a good time to go back to late 2013 when Trillium's St. Thomas Eastern only had days left. At the time most figured the line would soon vanish but luckily CN found a new operator, and by 2016 trains were once again operating over the line. In 2020 the line once again finds itself in the same situation, the only difference is this time the line is running out of chances. Here we see one of the last STE trains crossing the abandoned one time CN / CASO diamond just east of St. Thomas with a former CP RS-18 in charge. Note that both CP red and Ottawa Central lettering is showing through.

  1. Very nice. Looks like a bone-chilling day.

  2. Hard to believe that’s December – we haven’t had one that cold in a long time. Also who’s the photographer in the bushes there? :)

  3. I was always interested in the same CP Rail numbering font in the cabs and number boards on 1846.

  4. sorry…1842…1846 is my model! ;)

  5. The 1842 is interesting as it was rebuilt using parts from a CN RS-18 , which explains the odd air intake vents behind the cab.
