The View from the Spadina Avenue bridge.
Once upon a time one only traveled downtown to see the servicing of mainline passenger power and equipment.
The Go consist was typical for weekend service.
And Go Transit – like the new (at that time) Via Rail – made use of used power: that GO engine was originally a Rock Island unit and the control cab (ACPU) formerly an O.N.R. FP7A.
The triple Budd car lash-up is likely for a 600 series train: either the Niagara Falls (next out #641) with two return Budds daily ( plus the Maple Leaf) or the London (next out #665) back (north) route (Weston – Guelph Subs) with five return Budds daily ( the International was a Dundas Subdivision train ).
At right, above the last Budd car - what I have been told – is the Spadina roundhouse load test platform, part of a C Liner unit.
To the right of the Go ACPU, in the corner of the parking lot is the CN community caboose on pneumatic tires.
At the right centre background note the T.T.R. John Street tower has a roof ! Soon to be removed to accommodate the new Sky dome access bridge from Front Street.
The building prominent centre is the new RBC data centre.

What a shot!!!! The Spadina Bridge was a real treat for the fans, but there was never a day I stood out there in the cold of winter. Great caption, and, as you say, History. It almost hurts to go out these days when one can recall what it USED to be like.
