Caption: Why does it seem that interesting things always happen on cloudy days? As a timely modern-day complement to Mr. Mooney's outstanding 1980 photo from the same location which was recently uploaded to this site, we see CN L550 passing the newly-installed third track spans over the Desjardins Canal. This was the fourth movement though the area in the previous hour; CN 422 had dropped their train on track one at Aldershot east, set off at Aldershot, then ran light power back to Hamilton to make a 35 car lift. It was then back to Snake, where they waited on track 3 while CN 550 came out of the yard with 85 cars for Hamilton and Parkdale. For good measure, CP 246 also made an appearance, missing CN 422 by only a few minutes. The old Desjardins Canal bridge, rebuilt after the devastating 1857 passenger train wreck,is now permanently obscured by an even larger span which will carry a third track extending from Bayview to the GO West Harbour station.
