While the empty frame train 141 was never much to get excited about, the loaded eastbound 142 was totally different. After the control cab sets were retired just about any four axle power could be found the trains, including sets of GP9U'S, GP38's and the former Guilford GP40'S. This day found a matching set of repainted Former Guilford/ B&M in charge as the headed for the large GM plant in Oshawa. The old CP van was in a good spot this day to add to the image. It's sad that this train and all automotive assembly work in Oshawa is now history just like the Ford plant that once sat in Talbotville not far from where these frames originated in St. Thomas. Sadly the auto industry in Ontario is a far cry from what it once was.

  1. Heard something about CAMI too. Hope it’s not true. Guelph Jct will be changing with G&W coming in.

  2. GM Oshawa was the largest automotive complex in North America producing 900,000 vehicles, today car and truck assembly is gone. Mexico has surged past Canada (which is really Ontario) in vehicle production, everyone has to think hard about how to maintain what is left
