While many of us associate MLW S4 and GMD SW1200RS units with Hamilton yard duties; in the mid-1980s, 1200 hp SW9 and SW1200 units fulfilled that role (before the SW1200RSs were assigned to this service). Here we see two SW9s, 7704 and 7701, and another GM switcher on the west side of the Stuart Street diesel shop. These units have been renumbered from the 7000s, permitting GP9 units being rebuilt at that time to assume that number series. Also note the fuel delivery tank car.
