While inspecting a roofing project at the Golden BC post office I had the advantage of keeping one eye on the nearby CP line through town. As soon as the Via train arrived at the old CP station I went over & photographed the lead unit & the first "B" unit behind it, and then as luck would have it I ran out of film. Not long after this VIA stopped running through Golden, Calgary, & many other towns in the western part of Canada.

  1. Hi James, really nice shot.
I was wondering if you know what happened to the old CP station at Golden? From what I can tell, the entire structure was moved from next to the post office across the river near the main rail yard, but I am not certain, and it seems like this would be quite an expensive thing to do. Can you shed any light on this?
