Caption: When looking for information regarding this image, nothing was as I thought it to be. Yes, this is the old CPR station in Listowel. This was the former CP Listowel sub. But the line, built in 1908 from Linwood to end of the line by the station, was abandoned by the CPR in 1939. So why is it active with a lumber car being unloaded in 1981? Apparently CN took over the station and enough track to switch local industries as their connection was close by. So, in this picture we can say this is a CN operation. And the station building was leased out to Ontario Hydro. Nice solid looking building, but it did not make it thru the 1980s before it was demolished. Further, the CN pulled out of Listowel altogether in 1993.

Great image! Sad it’s gone, but I believe the CN station still survives today.
