What is is that Monty Python used to say..."And now for something completely different!" How about a pair of Illinois Central C-636s solo at Kinnear Yard in Hamilton!?! While these units may not have been a hit with the IC (retired by 1979, if I'm right) or CP (only briefly leased), they certainly were a catch for the fans.

  1. Didn’t these units have problems with them?

  2. Something about CP not knowing how the (air?) starters worked originally. Hard to believe they were barely two years old when leased to CP – practically brand new power!

They were orphans on IC and didn’t last long there (even CP didn’t want them). I think in the end they were traded in to PNC after only 10-12 years.

  3. I heard there were “gremlins” in them.

  4. This an easy grab for Doug as he lived only a couple of blocks away.
