Caption: Westinghouse #2, a Porter "Fireless Cooker" 0-4-0 steam locomotive, is seen here out of work at the foot of Wentworth Street in Hamilton in 1969. #2 had been used at Westinghouse's Longwood Plant from 1942 to 1964, until it was replaced by a trackmobile. According to Old Time Trains, it was then sold to Frank Bros. scrapyard when it languished until it was scrapped a year after this photo, in 1970.

Looking for those old ‘fireless locos’ on the computer myself a few weeks ago I was surprised to find how rare these things really are. This is a classic piece of history, even though it looks more like scrap than anything else. What a shame it is lost.
The area where to former Westinghouse fireless cooker was parked is now covered by a large electrical substation. Nary any trace of railway is evident; although the CPR Hamilton Subdivision is some 25 feet to the north
