Caption: VIA #692 (Churchill to Winnipeg) is backed into the station at Thompson, MB on this cool, overcast, and drizzly August 5, 2022 noon hour. The step boxes are on the platform inviting people to detrain, but there are only VIA on-board, maintenance personnel, and me outside to do our respective tasks. The solar panel above the Thompson town map board struggles to do its job at the moment. If I was to turn around 180 degrees (which I did), the lens would capture VIA #693 parked about a car length behind the last car of #692. As this was a several hour station stop, a number of passengers ventured into the town of Thompson when the weather broke.

Pretty cool Paul…looks like The Great Canadian Railroad trilogy type of trip….
Thanks Michael. I had a great trip from Winnipeg to Churchill and return on VIA 693/692. My three days in Churchill were also quite enjoyable as I explored the town and rail yards in depth. This was my third major trip on VIA Rail so far this year with the other two being Toronto-Halifax & return on The Ocean, and Toronto-Vancouver & return on The Canadian. All were in Sleeper Plus Class and all were excellent journeys. Retirement is great!
Great capture Paul! That train is also on my Bucket List and you just moved it up a notch!
All those who think Paul is spoiled in the year 2022 please raise their hands. )
Good stuff, Lad.
After years of sitting in the siding waiting, he is now holding the main track.
