Via #45 accelerates past Port Hope station enroute to Toronto.

The Port Hope station was built by Grand Trunk in 1856 using local limestone. CN brought forward a plan to remove the station in 1978 but was convinced by community groups to restore it and continue to use it for passenger service. It continues as a stop for a few Via trains daily.

  1. One of my fave stations. I used to see it every day when I was running the road switcher from Oshawa to Cobourg. We also used to service the Cameco former Eldorado Nuclear facility here.

  2. SMMOOOOKIN! Great photo.
