Hi Michael, very nice picture. To me it is amazing how this scene has changed over the decades. My first trip to Montreal by train will be 70 years ago this coming Feb, and somewhere near this location the train stopped while they changed the Northern for a box cab electric before proceeding into Central Station, where all CNR passenger trains terminated/originated, unlike VIA #37 on its run from Quebec City to Ottawa. Questions, did 37 back into Central Station or back out ? When the new VIA Corridor train sets start operating, I assume they will simply change ends what with half the seating probably facing in the opposite direction. Question #2, VIA’s current timetable shows the Ocean no longer stops in Charny, but crosses the Quebec Bridge over the St. Lawrence River to stop in St Foy. Do they “run in” and “back out” over this historical bridge ? Or is it the other way around ? Either way, the lucky passengers get to cross the River twice ! Thanks for posting your pictures Michael, they are all well taken and most informative, keeps me up to date on today’s railroading scene in/or around Montreal. Much appreciated, John
Would have loved to have seen that, the engine change spot was roughly a mile east of here. For question #1, this train backed out of Central Station towards the Victoria Bridge. Not sure about question #2.
