Caption: Veteran power leading trains displaying hints as to the reasons they got their nicknames. After the recession in the late naught's, early 10's the lumber and paper industry took a hit. Between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg trains 440/441 were nicknamed the "Paper Train" due to the amount of paper they hauled ex Thunder Bay, Dryden and Kenora along with their connecting trains to and from the east (Terrace Bay, Marathon, etc). By 2010 only Dryden and Thunder Bay mills (Terrace Bay would restart/idle a number of times over the course of coming decade) remained and other traffic from previously cancelled trains began to piggy-back on the normally paper/ lumber dominated freight. This version was a pre-cursor to today's 420-421 Toronto-Winnipeg freights. This day seen a late arrival of the Winnipeg- Thunder Bay freight 440 with a string of roughly 20 cars for the local Abitibi-Bowater plant on the headend followed by freight that once use to travel to Toronto on trains 220-221 ex Winnipeg.
