Typical of CP, throw together whatever power you can find and send them on their way. CP 8739, an MLW RS18, leads a hodge lodge of power on what I have documented as the westbound Starlight at Bayview Jct. Quite often, the Starlight's power would be three TH&B Geeps or three of the four NYC locos, 7429, 7430, 7431 and 5820.

  1. Wow – another fascinating image! I’m really enjoying your collection. Thanks for posting, Dave!

  2. Thanks Peter, more to come as I get time. The pics I am posting are all from Eddie Blacks slide film which I believe was Ansco. They are not very sharp to begin with and lack colour depth. Takes a lot of work to make them look acceptable.

  3. Remember going to catch the Starlight just to see what power was on the train that day.

  4. Notice the “lightweight” truck under the cab on the 8739.
