Two CP GP9s are captured working at Ayr. This train was likely the Ham Turn and picked up the three covered hoppers from the Ayr Pit Spur (or about to drop them off there). My memory has failed me on the exact logistics of this work on the evening of June 24, 2009.

  1. The mundane CP Local – now history. Kevin I would guess the crew just detached from the cars on the main (which look like they are for or from St. Marys cement) and is going in for a lift somewhere (either on the pit spur, or those autoracks on the left).

  2. Those are fly ash hoppers, LaFarge on the Ayr Pit Spur received inbound loads of fly ash, these ones appear to be similar to inbounds that came thru GEXR ar South Jct.

    LaFarge no longer rail, and possibly has closed down their operation in Ayr.

  3. I think they did close down. There often used to be those fly ash hoppers stored on a track servicing the plant and that is now closed. No more train cars parked since at least a year ago now I think. However, I do have a shot on RP.ca of a train on the Ayr Pit Spur dated 2013-08-18.

  4. F-S Partners gets seasonal fertilizer, and Park Farms has used the Ayr Pit Spur in the past since LaFarge has gone. Tampa Hall has been getting inbound loads of lumber in the past year.

    A lot of the traffic on the Ayr Pit Spur has gone thru GEXR at South Jct. on the Waterloo Sub.
