Caption: TTC Peter Witt streetcar 2766 is seen returning back to the yard from an overnight fantrip around the city, and is shown about to enter the back of St. Clair (Wychwood) Carhouse yard on the tracks off Wychwood Avenue at Benson Avenue. St. Clair Avenue can be seen in the distance. Photographer John Bromley's white mid-60's Plymouth Barracuda is visible parked on the right (sold as a Valiant Barracuda early on in Canada, hence the trunk lettering).
By 1965, the few remaining cars of TTC's fleet of old Peter Witt streetcars were facing their last months of revenue service (most were retired in 1963 when the University subway line opened, the remaining cars saw infrequent use), and enthusiasts often chartered cars for fantrips while they were still active. Photos show during this June 27th 1965 overnight and morning fantrip, 2766 made visits to Mimico, Dufferin Loop, Runnymede Loop, Viaduct Loop, Harbourfront Loop, Bedford Loop, and St. Clarens Loop. 2766 was the last active car, retired in July 1965, but kept by the TTC and later refurbished for Tour Tram service in the early 1970's.
