TTC PCC 4451 (A7-class, blt CC&F 1949) gets ready to pull away from the streetcar stop and turn onto Albert Street off James to begin its next trip westbound to Dundas West Station on the Dundas route. It's surrounded by various buildings of the T. Eaton Company (Eaton's): their Budget Store (left), Annex Store (behind), and various factories that made up a large parcel of land Eaton's owned downtown. At the time, Eaton's entire downtown holdings were slated for redevelopment for their new Eaton Centre shopping mall development. Teperman & Sons was already demolishing the old Salvation Army building on the right (out of frame, note the edge of their sign). The rest here would soon follow, including the old Eaton's Queen Street Store.At the time, Dundas streetcars looped here using "City Hall Loop" (the on-street track around Louisa/James/Albert/Bay that was used as the end terminus of Dundas cars at the time, so-named due to proximity to Toronto's Old City Hall), but this track would be removed around early 1975 and the Dundas car extended further east.Robert D.
