Caption: TRRY 1859 is pictured here on its way back to Feeder Yard after working Port Colborne for the day. The grain hoppers on the head end have come up from ADM and/or the Port Colborne Grain Terminal. 340 was busy working in Feeder itself, cleaning it up for the imminent return of 1859, and likely impending transfer run from CN L562.

This was my first time shooting 1859. When I was in college and later university, I spent summers working for Norfolk County and saw this unit a number of times coming through Delhi. This was long before I decided to photograph trains, so to be able to at least capture a photo of it felt somewhat redeeming. As a young, naive Simcoe kid, I'd long assumed the entirety of the line that ran through Simcoe and beyond (the Cayuga Sub of course, but back then I wouldn't have even known its name) had been ripped out for good. I still remember my shock when I was working in a farmer's field replacing a blown drainage tile and I heard a train blowing for a crossing as it approached Delhi. I couldn't believe there were still trains in the area. Over the next four summers I'd see the STER many times and it was always the highlight of the day. Great to see this unit still out there earning its keep so many years later.
