Tracks everywhere - where I'm standing I'm surrounded by railways you almost think you can't go wrong in Hamilton, but once you dig the locals in this part of town a bit deeper you realise it's not exactly the best place to be for any extended period of time. So explain why I keep going back? Along the former TH&B Belt line, for an industrial Branchline it's kind of neat - how many spurs that weren't part of a mainline have telegraph lines like this one does? Rounding Dofasco's Operating Services building the boys are heading back to Kinnear with their switching work completed in North Hamilton. A nice Kodachrome sky, a light dusting of snow to cover Hamilton's grime and low winter sun to complete the scene.

p.S - what's that thing to the right facing the tracks? Any relevance to railways?

  1. I really like the looks of the CP ECO’s.

  2. In The Hammer, like London, locals always say “those damn trains”. For me, the more the merrier. To the right it looks like a microphone with a wind sock and a reverse shock mount. ;)

  3. To me it looks like something to hold waybills.. there would have been a spur into the place some years ago in TH&B days. There was also a junction ahead for the Beach Branch which junctioned off the Belt Line (pictured)

  4. This was TH41 if you care. :) Was a good day for Dofasco backdrops for you.

  5. Thanks Jamie. So this was the night job finishing for the day then? I kind of care but it’s hard to get local symbols right.

  6. Yeah they are a bit of a mixed bag (especially TH41) and seem to change at random:

    TH11: MON-FRI 0700
    TH21: TUES-SAT 1500
    TH31: THUR-MON 2300
    TH41: SAT 0700, SUN/MON 1500, TUES/WED 2300
