To handle export grain shipments to the Soviet Union, over the 1963-1964 winter CP leased 23 units from U.S. carriers. This included 7 FA1 and 8 FB1 locomotives from Union Pacific (according to the February 1964 issue of Canadian Rail magazine). Here we see an A-B-B set of the UP units leading a westbound freight through Guelph Jct. Now that's FPON!

    Sweet scene from the distant past. Great set of power that must have sounded so good as they made their way up the escarpment. Thanks for sharing, Doug.

    An old London hoggers mentioned these a few times, he always recalled as “those dilapidated old crocks”..
