Caption: Time machine: refer to Reg Button photo #25056 for a view 22 years earlier in 1996 at the same spot. Once again, Hamilton Junction is being reconfigured with the addition of a third track between CN Bayview and the new West Harbour GO Station in Hamilton's north end. This necessitated a new span over the Desjardins canal, the construction of which can be seen at right. Since this photo was taken back in May, new signals have been erected spelling the end of the signal bridge and searchlight signals from the previous reconfiguration of the plant. The new third track will run on the west side of the existing two tracks, about where the east end of the signal bridge is located. Interestingly, it appears that all three tracks under the High Level bridge will be preserved, despite infrequent use of more than one at a time. Here we see a somewhat late CP 246 slowly passing the work zone with work ahead at Kinnear.
