This was the only train on the Oakville Sub that I ever put any effort into shooting. On this June 2003 day ONR's "Northlander" deadheads to Mimico to be turned for its departure later that evening. CN's station name sign Fort York can be seen left of the locomotive, while I'm standing at GO's Exhibition station. In the background a GO Train look's to be headed west towards CP's Galt sub.

  3. “Back then”? Has it changed ?

  4. Yup I remember those old shelters, but I cannot imagine some stations with them…

  5. And when did they tear up that overpass at the Ex?

  6. And of course, the removal of the Inglis sign was recent too was it not?

  7. Did they even remove it?

  8. Great shot Matt! Pre-condo boom too.

The famed Inglis sign was removed late July 2014, about 2 years ago now. That little piece of building it’s on clad in white metal siding was probably the last part of their sprawling Liberty Village manufacturing complex. Not sure when the GO pedestrian walkway was removed, probably when they moved it underground.

To answer a question not yet asked, the Fort York interlocking diamond between CN and the CP “Wharf Spur” (guarded by the Cabin E interlocking shack) was removed in 1984.

  9. This is lovely.
