This rather modern CP station, built in 1951, replaced another that was built in 1947 and was flooded out. The station was at the east end of what was called 'Black Siding', which ran parallel to the mainline thru Terrace Bay. A yard was constructed later here, to service the Longlac Pulp & Paper Co that started up just off the main, and was connected by a service track off the main near the station. The railroad was rather busy back then, with freight and passenger service alike until a highway connection finally reached the town in 1960. Note the agent's living quarters upstairs, a common practice thru the northern towns, in this image accentuated by the laundry hanging outside. Do not have a demolition date for this rather solid looking structure, but it has been gone for a number of years since I shot this in 1975.

    Really? They sure look like a nice place to want to live in considering how well they appear to be built. Probably more solid than half the houses in town.

    Ya know, Mr. SD, if I hadn’t been in such a hurry to get to where I was going back in 1975 I just might have taken the 4KM or so drive into town and seen this building. But I didn’t and it was gone by the time I went looking. THANKS for bringing this to my attention.
