What portion of the Cayuga has CN returned to Steve? And i’m still not sure of the amount of service IGPC at Aylmer receives. When I was there the yard was plugged with tanks. I see in Satellite that they are storing tanks past Cayuga and in Aylmer proper. Don’t why not on IGPC property.
Brad, the executive summary of the Cayuga is as follows:
CN abandons Nelles to Delhi 1996 (NS trains re-routed via Bayview), by 1997 STER takes over. December 2013 STER abandons service, line reverts to CN ownership.
CN contracted OSR to service Tillsonburg to Courtland in early 2014, and by 2016 CN had fixed up the rest of the line then contracted OSR to operate all of it except to Delhi which was kept out of service.
So basically, the line is still CN with OSR operating it.
Brad – IGPC not much, a car or two a month probably – the plant has a lot of rail but rarely uses rail service as corn is sourced locally and the output is going to nearby Nanticoke/Sarnia refineries so trucking. The plant was built “with rail” as it was a “kit” plant built to spec. Maybe in a bad year they import corn, or depends on market.
Since IGPC is private property and not owned by the railway you have to have an agreement to use their rails to store cars or IGPC can offer to store cars. Smart idea but who knows what IGPC’s reasoning is or if they even thought of the idea.
Glad to see the SWs are still alive. Some of my earliest memories are of them powering Toyota trains past Riverside Park.
