Caption: This location for most needs no explanation. By the date of this photo the entire junction had been rebuilt along with most of the Oakville subdivision.
The morning time is the best time for the sun angle here, and this day the cloud cover was finally moving on as CN train 396 is seen coming off the Dundas sub. under early morning light, with a pair of CN's original SD70M's. If the story I heard is right they were tacked onto the end of a Norfolk Southern order from GMD and were basically built to NS specs, which explains the high headlight and lack of an isolated cab. I heard CN wasn't fond of the non-isolated cabs as they were very noisy and all future orders came with isolated cabs and low headlights as well as DPU equipment. The original order gradually had DPU installed after delivery. The greenery at Bayview has been gradually filling in, so I'm glad I spent some time here in the early years.

Looked great on the outside but the lack of an “isolated” cab made them terrible to operate and extremely noisy . They were indeed tacked on to an existing NS order.
