This is what #218 become over the years - lots of tank cars destined for the growing chemical plants and refineries around Edmonton. This was an important train, presumably because it made a ton of money for CN. I think that it would continue east with all new tank cars later in the evening.

  1. When I started railfanning in the early seventies, 217 & 218 were the hot shot express trains. I remember when they did the re-numbering and thinking that the new service they went to sure meant they wouldn’t be breaking any speed records!
