This is the end... After years of continuous deterioration (and neglect), the city of Farnham has announced that M636 CP 4723 has been sold to a scrapper and will be cut up on site shortly. I've been visiting Farnham and photographing this engine since 2005 and I will be sad to see it go. I visited Farnham this weekend to photograph it one last time.

    The scrapping? I would like to document that, but my guess is it will take place during the week, when I work.

    Vandals do it again. We’ve seen the same all over the world with steam. Another ALCO is lost. I agree, if possible, documenting the scrapping is worth your time. Securing a few artifacts, possible from inside the cab, is worth a shot.
    How terribly sad.

    Personally I never really liked MLW’s, I was more GMD, but I do have respect for those locomotives that rolled out from Dickson St.
