This is actually a three-way meet. That is, if you want to count that little motor car half obscured in the curve over the Hwy 403. :o) CN 1214 and 1245 with a very short train (3 cars and caboose 79382) awaits the eastbound CN 4105 and VIA 6779 as seen from the hillside at what was referred to as Hamilton West back then.

  1. Nice seeing those 1200 Series coupled that way. I see the 1214 has the Arctic Boy Water Cooler sitting on the rear deck. Just paper cups being thrown out the window back then.

  2. AW you sure can stir up the memories mister!
I had not hired on when you took this shot, but I remember running those SW12RS’s many times. Including 5 of them lashed up on my nightly run from Oshawa to Aldershot and back on train 403. Those li’l buggers could pull when they were running well and man they put on quite the light show from the exhaust stack despite the spark arrestors!

  3. Phil, are you sure that’s not you in the l’il orange put-put in the top left ? :)
