They must have been independent types at the St. Thomas backshop, coming up with their own version of the Conrail "blue" paint scheme. Several units received this version of paint, before more senior officers in the States put an end to this practice.

This unit was formerly NYC 6040 and PC 7440, originally equipped with a steam generator as a back-up unit for the passenger trains operating on the Canada Division. She was delivered in April 1957.
