Caption: The view from downtown Toronto's Bathurst Street bridge in April 1979 shows a flurry of action: CN S13 switchers were still switching complete passenger trains (coaches & locomotives) between Union Station and the Spadina coachyard and nearby roundhouse/shop facilities. CN S13 8517 handles a Tempo train consist with RS18 3151 and GP9 4102, while sister 8512 handles a pair of ex-CP Stainless Steel Budd cars, by now owned by VIA but still in CP colours. In the background another S13 can be seen coupled to a train with FP9-F9B power in the coachyard, and in the distance another S13 can be seen handling a passenger train under Spadina Avenue bridge. RDC cars at Spadina roundhouse are visible at the base of the CN Tower on the right, and GO Hawker Siddeley single-level commuter coaches can be seen stored on the left at Bathurst North Yard, which appears to still be partially in use as a freight yard.
