Caption: The units have just come off the bridge that crosses the North Saskatchewan river and the first thing off the bridge is Bretville Jct. No knowledge what the hoppers may carry but they are all empty and headed back for a refill. Although they paused for a moment, waiting for the just passed signal, it will be a couple more car lengths yet before the high beams come on. To add to that, in what will seem like only a few more car lengths, they will be up to track speed of 30mph.

Wow. Cool shot man! You found a good place there.
Thanks Kevin. Yes, I sure would like to catch the passenger train here (coming or going) or better units, like a pair of BCR barns on the front.
For some perspective on the photo. The bridge is roughly 500m long, so it is half a km to the cement wall on the other side, which helps the eye gauge how long the train is.
I love the shot. It has been 20 years since I was in Edmonton, but I think my memory is still pretty good. But I thought that it was pretty flat in that area. how did you get that high? You appear to be near the top of the hoppers.
Interesting spot for sure.
Thanks very much Michael, it’s great to hear from you.
I’m happy the photo stirs some memories for you Steve. Nothing more elaborate going on here though except holding the camera with my feet on the ground, no ladders used (or drone, if I had a drone I wouldn’t be taking this shot with it. I would be closer, more to the side and caught the train on the bridge. To me, that would be about the ultimate this bridge has to offer in the morning. So you guys with the drones, you know the challenge now, can’t wait to see your results ).
