"The Selkirk" trundles through residential suburbia as the train makes its thrice weekly trip down the Winnipeg Beach Sub with steel traffic from Selkirk and traffic from the Lake Line Railway, who operates the northern portion of the Sub from Selkirk to Gimli. Today's 17 car train is on approach to the gateway into Winnipeg Yard: Rugby Interlocking. The crew has got the okay from the Supervisor Operations Terminal (SOT)to enter the Arborg Sub (a handthrow switch just west of Rugby) and a track on the east side of Rugby to put their train away.

  1. Interesting – would that be an engineless cab car then? Did you manage to see the Lake Line Railway? They are quite new – not much known about them!

  2. Yep, this would be a “control cab” or slug mated with the 3028. This power appears to be captive on the Selkirk run. As for the Lake Line, I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, I caught up with these guys by chance touring around the Winnipeg area.
Lake Line started their operations on the Winnipeg Beach Sub last year (?) and also took over the Lac Du Bonnet Sub which runs Molson to Beausejour, MB in late 2012.
