Chris – Thank you for braving the cold and sleet to get us this first view of the newest acquisitions to the CN fleet.
CREX 9000′s! CREX 9025/9030/9035/9038/9052/9053, probably not in that order.
And I am wondering if these are from the long lines of stored units I saw on the APNC at Centerville, Iowa a few years ago. There were dozens of old UP locos there.
CREX for quite a while now. Now that their leases are up CN has taken possession of many of these ex UP units. I believe that CSX was the main railroad that was leasing these locomotives prior to CN’s acquisition.
Good shot Chris! Glad someone got these in the day light!
I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the older stored UP locos Mr. Mooney saw went into CN’s existing 2100 series acquired last year, which came direct from UP.
As Mr. Bishop points out, the new acquisitions were owned by a leasing company with CREX reporting marks.
