Caption: The odd time CP’s 7300 series GP38-2′s venture from their normal stomping grounds of the easter USA to Winnipeg, mostly for heavy repairs. Of those few units, three exist in the “fallen flag” Delaware & Hudson livery: 7303, 7304 and 7312. 7312, in the most accurate representation of the livery, had to head up to Weston shops in Winnipeg MB for front drawbar work. After getting skunked in a night chase north to Alliston with D&H 7312 in the lead, a chance for redemption came up. Enroute back to New York, D&H 7312 had come back down to Ontario for delivery home, trailing in 254′s consist. With last-minute word of the train departing Toronto and a work block closing part of the line for repairs, your humble narrator was able to make it down to Streetsville with time to spare, to catch CP #254 rolling through town with the very sharp looking D&H 7312 heading back home.
