Well done, Jeff. Pity we are treated with shabby old CN locomotives though. This image makes me wonder what the heck you were doing wandering around such a remote part of the line.
I usually go up for my fall canoe trip down the Agawa but this year it was at flood levels and I had a friend who is a beginner doing a bucket list trip with me. Plus the weather last week made it not safe to take him down the river. so we based camped with a campfire tent to stay warm and comfy. Took the passenger train in and out 4 nights, 5 days. Managed some good shots between rain/snow and sleet squalls, but that did add to the photos. (going up since 85 )
Nicely done.
Sounds like quite the adventure. And here I thought Frater was remote ) So you no doubt will be another one of those severely inconvenienced if the twits that run this country see to it that the financial rug is pulled out from under the passenger service. Perhaps an independent operator will be found, as is currently being sought for the Tour Train. But its probably not financially viable.
awmooney have you been to the old rail siding north or Frater?

It is 1 mile north of Frater and you can access it via the logging road that crosses the tracks at Frater. Look on google earth and it will show the paths. Where the trail/atv tracks breaks off and goes down to the old yard you can park. Logging road is in good shape.
No, I haven’t, Jeff. THANKS for this information. I’ve been to Frater a few times (see the old concrete block building is now gone) but did not attempt the road(s) on the other side because I had a regular auto. But now that I have a 4 wheel drive, I shall check this out next spring when up that way. I only hope at least the passenger trains are still running….
This truly may be one of the most spectacular railway pictures I’ve ever seen! Congratulations Jeff!!
I love it when I see this image. One of the best acr images ever taken for sure. Such a beautiful and serene photo.
Also what painting is this photo emulating? My oldest is now into group of 7 art. – your link no longer works. Cheers.
