The new CN diesel shop in Hamilton nears completion in February 1964. As interesting is the mix of rolling stock in the North Yard, including many "fallen flags". Also note the number of tracks north of the main lines...in the 1960s, Hamilton Yard had tracks both on both sides of the Oakville sub mainline.

  1. The two foreground tracks look new..at the time..even with the snow coverage the ties seem to rest on top unballasted. That would be the location of the transfer facilty now but different track arrangement.

  2. Very nice.

  3. Does anyone know if this was a standard type of CN structure installed at other locations? As info, the shop would be razed in 2014.
