Caption: The London, Huron & Bruce railway put down track thru here in 1875. And a station served the town. A larger one was constructed at a later date and was destroyed by fire in 1911. Grand Trunk built the one pictured. The last passenger service was in 1956, and the station was modified somewhat on one end for a truck loading dock. As well, the structure served as the section crews office, lunchroom and track car housing. Closed up in 1993, it was purchased by an optometrist and moved to Grand Bend, where currently it is still in good condition and well patronized. Nice to know that it was saved.

Nice view Arnold. You don’t see many photos of the old stations on the Exeter Subdivision. Centralia had a similar designed depot I believe.
When I saw Centralia on this same trip the front was all closed in like a greenhouse for whatever reason. Storage? I got a photo of it but it looks too ugly to post. Wondering if it is still there.
Nothing is too ugly. It is history now.
This is nice. Thank you.
